How did you hear about Hilltown CDC's Small Business Development Program? | Through my dad who is the sole employee of the Williamsburg Blacksmith shop. |
Comments or Questions | To explain the situation more clearly, the Williamsburg Blacksmiths Shoop was the store owned and operated by my mom Elizabeth Tiley, and the only other employee was my dad Andrew MacNeill. In 2020 my mom passed away and because my parents weren't married after a lengthy probate court process my sister and I technically inherited the shop. Still, my father remains the only employee and neither myself nor my sister is on any kind of payroll. The biggest challenge is that the taxes for the shop are certainly backlogged and quite honestly I am struggling to find good documentation to make sure that everything is inorder to file them. Most pressingly I can see that the business owes 30,000 to the Department of Unemployment due to the unintentional backlog of unemployment payments but we are trying to get it all sorted. If it is of any help I can see online that the business' former LLC was dissolved in 2014 and I believe it is now operating as a DBA but I am not completely certain. Here's what comes up when you search for it on the state secretary web page: https://corp.sec.state.ma.us/CorpWeb/CorpSearch/CorpSummary.aspx?sysvalue=T7ksRNQ4Ry7kJ4vaqcHrJqDzIJaPKA5LuN9f0VR49es- We would love to transfer the business to my dad so that he can continue the shop but inorder to do so we need to get ontop of our book keeping, accounting, and most importantly taxes. Thank you so much for any and all help! |
