Eve owns Running Fox Farm located in Worthington on 38 acres. It includes blueberry bushes, animals and horses. She and Dean Kent her partner just purchased 14 acres. Their plan is to develop the 14 acres and eventually sell the 38 acre farm.

Plan for development - Clear this heavily forested area and create several different services.

  1. A walking trail to be used by people with disabilities, children, after school programs and therapy programs.
  2. Create an equine assisted activities therapy area. This would include a gazebo for music and art therapy and therapies especially with animals. This is specifically not a “Equine riding therapy program”, but instead equine assisted activities therapy( EAA ), which is covered by insurance.
  3. Safe 4 life Pet Center - This is a program where aged pets with a trust fund are given to Eve to live out their final days in this location. This is a for-profit business which has been running for several years and will be grown further in the new location.

A forestry grant to help with the clear-cut of the property

Grant to start this new business idea and/ or continue with the previous businesses and move them over to this location.

Eve also runs a medical billing business which financially allows them to run all the other programs.

Because none of these businesses except the medical billing business is a primary income only the medical bill billing business is eligible for the Empower Digital grant

Dean Kent her partner creates products for sale which can be described as a ball jar with lights inside and etching on the outside. This product has great potential, but he needs more marketing services.

Action steps:

  1. Dee will inquire if Dean Kent is eligible for the Empower Digital grant as his pension and Social Security are his primary income.
  2. Dee has given Eve all the information she needs to start the process of the Empower Digital grant with her medical billing business.
  3. Eve clearly needs a detailed business plan for her future endeavors. Dee will request a three month subscription lysed plan business software for her.
  4. Eve needs help finding a forestry grant person. She will ask Hilton CDC

Summary - These people have an incredible vision which has many components. It can be seen as scattered but at the same time it encompasses many needed services and services that will be covered by insurance as Eve is clear about the medical billing part of it. They need grants to get started and a business plan. I have not reviewed their financials at all.

  • Start a spreadsheet with all the grants that you have looked into and made decisions about. Here is a template. This will allow us not to duplicate efforts.
  • Start working on the Empower Digital grant task list for the medical billing business.
  • Use this template to start thinking about your business plan. – Dee will help to get a subscription to LIVEPLAN  business planning software
